GCC spec versus imported, what actually matters

Imported cars usually carry a lower listing price. Whether they cost less to own is a different question.

The real differences

• GCC cars are built with larger radiators and stronger air conditioning for our heat
• GCC cars keep agency warranty and service eligibility
• Imported cars can be harder to insure comprehensively and often value lower
• Resale on an imported car is typically 10 to 20 percent behind an equivalent GCC car

If you plan to keep the car for a decade, an import can make sense. If you will sell in three years, the discount you enjoy today comes straight back out at resale.

How to check

The chassis number and the build plate tell you the origin. So does the service history. If a seller is vague about it, treat that as a price issue, not a detail.
